Getting children to catch up on lost learning will take 3 years, says Ofsted Boss Amanda Spielman

This article may have been written back in May, but it is a fact that some schools are “jumping over” whole topics, while others pick out and teach the key building blocks in each subject. Too many parents are now seeing the effects of this fragmented teaching in how their children are presenting: your child lacks the confidence they once had; there is grumpiness when school is mentioned (where once your child reacted with at least some degree of joy); there may be arguments over homework - or even not wanting to go to school at all. This is where tutoring can help by finding those gaps, giving targeted and individual teaching to 'plug' those gaps and - perhaps most importantly - building confidence. What a difference it can make.
